Our Saviour led a most amazing life, definitely worth emulating. Although the dear price he paid for our salvation was not something this Christian aspires to. I'm blessed, however, that he persisted with his plan all the way through the bitter end. The result of his life is a great benefit for mankind. Not only that, but--resurrection from the dead? Who could top that? No one I've ever heard of. I'm sticking with Christ.

This passage is in the context of church discipline and forgiveness. What does it look like to be redemptive people of the gospel rather than punitive people of the law? The strategy is in the message of the parable. Go seek out, not wait till they come groveling back.

1.) These days, the angel would probably carve the "Footprints" story. 2.) Action? The only action I can think of on this rainy Monday morning is going to work, and maintaining that action for the next five days. Haha.
Nevertheless, what you say is true. God definitely gets involved with His people; he goes far beyond just sending angelic appointees.

Jesus, of course, knew exactly what to do-- there was nothing haphazard in His actions, words or thoughts.
We must understand that God is entirely certain of us as well-- any and all UNcertainty exists only in our imperfect minds, but we are free to act in faith on His Word, being fully confident that He is in control.
This reality of discipleship is not rendered less valid because of its frequent and very public misrepresentation by false teachers.

Thank you for another good and seasonable word of exhortation and encouragement.

God does not promise us control over our feelings, but does instruct us to govern our response to them: Self control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit in the disciple's life.
